I was never into asparagus when I was younger. I guess because my mom never cooked it! Gotta say, asparagus is the bomb! These beautiful spears of green goodness make the perfect side dish for just about any protein. They also make a great puréed soup. Why do I love them so much? Asparagus is both low in calories and sodium. Asparagus contains high levels of vitamin C, E & B6, calcium, magnesium, and zinc, and is a very good source of dietary fiber, protein, and beta-carotene. And, they cook up beautifully, especially when grilled. This is the easiest Grilled Asparagus Spears recipe on the planet! Give it a try! Even my husband likes asparagus now!
When shopping for asparagus, look for spears that are bright, firm, and full of color.
Thick spears or thin spears? The thicker ones will take a little longer to cook. If you choose the very thin spears, make sure they are all uniform in size. They will grill quickly and can often overcook easily.
Such a simple side dish but full of amazing flavors! Can’t go wrong with fresh grilled asparagus!
