Now, I'm not much of a tequila drinker (I overdid it one time and paid the price!), but tequila in this boozy slush cocktail is out of this world! I kid you not, you will be loving this adult beverage! I used Herradura Tequila because that's what my hubby drinks. But, you can use whatever tequila you have on hand.

I used a small, round, seedless watermelon for this recipe. It was incredibly sweet on the inside!

FUN FACT: Did you know seedless watermelons are not completely seed free? There are some small, almost transparent, seeds in the melon that are completely edible. Read more at: Gardening Know How: Information About Seedless Watermelon Seeds

Ingredients you'll need for this Boozy Watermelon-Strawberry Slush

You won't believe how easy this boozy cocktail is to make! Just seven ingredients (plus extra ice) thrown into the blender for a perfect adult beverage!

    • Small round, seedless watermelon
    • Frozen strawberries
    • Simple syrup
    • Tequila (your choice)
    • Lime juice
    • Fresh mint
    • Jalapeño pepper
    • Ice cubes
Ingredients on a white board for making boozy watermelon strawberry slushies: frozen strawberries, tequila, watermelon cubes, simply syrup, fresh mint, limes, and a jalapeño pepper.

How to make this boozy, frozen cocktail

    1. Cut the watermelon in half and scoop out the fruit. Cube the watermelon and set aside.
    2. Make a simple syrup using equal parts water and sugar. Heat in a small saucepan until sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently. Remove from stove and let cool.
    3. Place all of the ingredients into a high-powered blender (or food processor) and purée until smooth.
    4. Pour into individual cocktail glasses and top with melon balls and mint leaves on toothpicks. Extra lime wedges are optional on the side!

    Tips and tricks

    • You can either freeze the watermelon cubes or strawberries. Either will work. I had a bag of frozen strawberries from Trader Joe's in my freezer so I opted to use those.
    • If you like your cocktails boozier, feel free to add more tequila! Not judging!
    • I made these pretty little toothpick garnishes using balled melon and sprigs of mint. You can leave it off, or just garnish with lime wedges.
    • I used the leftover mixture to make boozy popsicles! Didn't change a thing, just filled up my popsicle molds with the leftover mix. These pops were so delish as a boozy treat the next night!
